More about the day here:
Join us to celebrate the arrival of spring at our unique artisan food market, Spring Harvest Festival, returning to the beautiful grounds of Elizabeth Farm. We invite you to explore the rich culinary history of Australia’s oldest surviving homestead.
Elizabeth Farm was built by John and Elizabeth Macarthur in 1793. They quickly established a productive farm with an abundance of fresh produce, grains and livestock. Discover stories of the Macarthur family as you take a peek into the colonial kitchen with its woodfired stove, check out what’s growing in the kitchen garden, or see how the dining room would have been set for a formal occasion.
Enjoy a variety of fascinating talks, food demonstrations and hands-on workshops as you meet historians, food personalities and producers and discover the stories behind your food. Then embrace the opportunity to taste your history with food inspired by the colonial dining table as you browse, sample, sip and shop from a handpicked selection of products from Sydney’s finest artisan producers. Pack a picnic rug and enjoy the beautiful surrounds of Elizabeth Farm with a delicious spread from our premium food vendors.
Spring Harvest Festival is one of many programs and events presented by Sydney Living Museums that explore the food heritage of our properties, including the annual Autumn Harvest Festival at Rouse Hill House & Farm and the Colonial Gastronomy and Eat Your History workshop series.
